This is it, right? I’m going to finally play a Forza Horizon game with Forza Horizon 4. Hearing about the 1080p 60 FPS mode for the Xbox One X fascinates me considering this franchises’ pedigree as a 30 FPS title. I haven’t dug into a racing title in a long, long time and this Xbox Game Pass title makes it a very compelling case for me to return to one.

Here comes the friendly neighbourhood Spider-man doing what Spidey does — or at least that’s the hope? I hope this doesn’t end up being a reskinned Batman: Arkham title. I love Rock Steady’s titles but I want them to make their games and not have other studios borrow from their formula too much. I hope Insomniac Games’ ends up carving out their own niche with this one. I didn’t watch many gameplay videos so pardon my ignorance if I’m completely off base here.

Lumines was a very special game for the PlayStation Portable. I wasn’t very good at it but I found myself playing it over and over again. It came out for the Xbox 360 as Lumines Live but I just didn’t gravitate towards it as a console game. It played fine, looked great and sounded amazing but I associated this kind of game as an easy pick-up and put-down kind of game. I essentially want it on a portable. Lumines Remastered for Switch looks to be the high definition Lumines game that I always wanted.

The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection looks to be quite the deal if you pre-ordered it for the PlayStation 4, PC or Xbox One. I think they should have included Ultra Street Fighter IV in the package but alas what can you do? The only reason I didn’t pre-order it is because of the unknown port quality. I didn’t want to spend $49.99 on non-refundable PSN Store purchase. Oh well, I’m sure this will go sale along with Ultra Street Fighter IV one day and I’ll get my Hadouken fix for less than a large pizza one day.

I own Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Wii U. I tried to enjoy it but as a fan of the original Donkey Kong Country of games, I just couldn’t get into RetroStudio’s control scheme. I felt that way with Donkey Kong Country Returns as well but decided to give Tropical Freeze a try regardless. Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t won over the second time around. And I doubt a Switch port would change my mind.

Another Far Cry 5 game debuted and guess what? It’s a Far Cry game. More importantly, it’s a Far Cry game that follows the mould of not quite living up to the pre-release marketing’s story promises; it always seemed provocative but the games end up not saying much at all. The gameplay itself seems to be Far Cry through and through which means if you can stomach another one of those games, you should be satisfied.

I have yet to play Final Fantasy XV. I bought the PlayStation 4 version near launch and handed it to my brother. The Windows Edition looks appealing with its ability to hit 60FPS but I doubt I’ll double dip. I really shouldn’t get into the habit of double dipping on games I have no plan on playing any time soon.

I dabbled in the Monster Hunter: World beta and thought it would be a fun time for my bro and I. Unfortunately, it debuted alongside the likes of Dragon Ball FighterZ and I made my choice. I do see myself playing Monster Hunter World in the future but I’m uncertain which platform I will be skinning dinosaurs on. I expect a competent PC port in Q3/Q4 2018 but will I have the appetite to play it when newer titles make their debut in that timeframe? Who knows?

Assassin’s Creed: Origins is the first Assassin’s Creed game in a long time that legitimately intrigued me. Ubisoft gave this game more time in the oven and all the praise I hear about it has piqued my interest. Comparisons to The Witcher III appear to be superficial but the mere mention of CDProjekt RED’s game is enough to give it consideration. I don’t know if I will find the time for it any time soon but when it reaches that $20 price point? I may give a gander.

I didn’t care for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D which subsequently poisoned the franchise for me. I found their worlds to be incredibly beautiful but I didn’t care for any of the stories and characters. I didn’t play Xenoblade Chronicles X and I doubt I’ll give Xenoblade Chronicles 2 a look but more Switch games is always good. Even if it’s not for me.
