I found Fire Emblem: Birthright to be a disappointment coming from Fire Emblem: Awakening. As a result, I didn’t play Fire Emblem: Conquest and I am certainly not interested in picking up Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I’m effectively done with the franchise unless they radically change its tone. I’m just not into face petting.

I’m in the middle of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. It’s good but not exactly the revelatory experience I was hoping for. There are some standout moments and recalling the story and events that have transpired sounds preposterously amazing but the actual moment to moment game is a bit stale. I don’t think I’ll get to Youngblood any time soon but I have every intention on staying on this crazy Wolfenstein ride.

I’ll be playing my first Marvel Ultimate Alliance game next week with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order on Nintendo Switch. I’m looking forward to checking it out with my fiancee who’s a fan of many things Marvel. I just hope it’s an entertaining game that we can see through to the end without succumbing to boredom. This series has its fans and Nintendo saw fit to bring it back as an exclusive for the Switch, so there has to be something worthwhile here.

If there was a game that may entice me into the block building genre, it would be Dragon Quest Builders 2. I believe I said the same with the first game but I never got the chance. If I’m being honest, I doubt I am going to play this spin-off when I am still working through DQVIII on Nintendo 3DS and DQXI.

I liked the idea behind Super Mario Maker more than the reality itself. I felt it wasn’t entertaining when I was playing through poorly designed or convoluted levels. Watching others challenge one another with levels was far more entertaining than it had any right to be though. Mario Maker 2 seems like a game that’s trying to address these issues by introducing co-operative play and making. I hope that addresses my concerns with the game but I really won’t know until I actually dig into it.

As a fan of many things Yakuza related, the upcoming Judgment game should be right up my alley. Unfortunately, I’m in the midst of wading through Xbox Game Pass and its treasures. I love the idea of exploring the weird and wacky world of Yakuza without Kiryu Kazuma. It allows them to explore this world from different perspectives without the baggage that comes with being Kiryu Kazuma.

I was well off the Kickstarter train when the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night campaign hit. I was in “wait & see” mode for my own Kickstarted projects and all upcoming projects. I took glances at this Castlevania-esque title and I’m actually impressed with its progress over the years. I just hope the final product is worthwhile — not for my sake, but for those who have been waiting for years.

Of the many games slated for a big E3 2019 showing, I’m looking forward to Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order the most. Not because it’s a Star Wars project; it’s because it is a Respawn Entertainment project and anything they’re involved with has my attention.

Atlus keeps putting out Persona Q and Etrian Odyssey games and I keep wondering if they’re good. Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is the latest Persona themed dungeon crawler but I have grand reservations with these kinds of games. The mainline Persona games are already 80+ hour affairs. Do I really want to get into spin-offs that are similar in length? Probably not.

Resident Evil 4 is now available on the Nintendo Switch. That should be no surprise to me or anyone that RE4 made its way to another platform. It’s been 14 years since RE4 debuted on the GameCube and PlayStation 2. Since then Capcom have ported that game to every platform except the Nintendo Wii U. They say everything should come to Switch but Capcom is out there saying it should be the other way around with RE4 — it should be on everything.
