Okami HD on the Nintendo Switch is a match made in heaven. Brush powers with a touch screen makes a whole lot of sense. If I were to purchase a third copy of Okami, I think it would be for the Switch.

We’re in the middle of 2018 and there are still worthwhile Nintendo 3DS titles coming out. WarioWare Gold looks awesome but I’m going to be that person and say: I wish it was on the Switch. I am still playing my Nintendo 3DS (DQ8) but I want WarioWare on the big screen for some party shenanigans. It’s silliness should not be contained on the small screen!

X is my Mega Man. The classic 8-bit Mega Man is fine but Mega Man X is my jam. Dashing, throwing Hadoukens, jumping off walls, suit upgrades, and riding mech suits. The image of a robot driving a mechanical suit was so awesome when I first played Mega Man X in the early 90’s. Needless to say, this Mega Man X Legacy Collection is a much more attractive package to me than the other Blue Bomber collections that preceded it. If it’s a quality package, I can see myself picking this up for the Nintendo Switch.

I gave the Octopath Traveler demo a go but I just couldn’t digest the dialog. It’s a novel idea for the first 10 minutes but I grew very tired of how wordy it was. I wasn’t entirely sold on the visual style. It reminded me of early PlayStation 1 JRPGs but remastered and tinkered with to an excessive degree. The combat was alright though. I really wanted to like the game but it just wasn’t meant to be.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was one of my favorite Wii U titles and I’m happy to see it appear on the Switch. I want to get it for Nintendo’s hybrid console but not for its asking price. Once I see it for $9.99 or so, I’ll pull the trigger. In the meantime, I hope this game sells very well on its second life.

Lumines was a very special game for the PlayStation Portable. I wasn’t very good at it but I found myself playing it over and over again. It came out for the Xbox 360 as Lumines Live but I just didn’t gravitate towards it as a console game. It played fine, looked great and sounded amazing but I associated this kind of game as an easy pick-up and put-down kind of game. I essentially want it on a portable. Lumines Remastered for Switch looks to be the high definition Lumines game that I always wanted.

I enjoyed my time with the Mario Tennis Aces multiplayer beta a few weeks ago. There was a big of lag and it lacked the ability to play without the ridiculous powers but the bottom line was: this was a solid package. However, I didn’t feel it was a solid package for $79.99. I enjoyed the online festivities but I primarily enjoy my tennis games for the wacky single player mini-games. Unfortunately, the reviews didn’t speak highly of that side of the game. And since I’m not even sure if I’m going to get Nintendo’s online service, I just didn’t think this was a worthy purchase at this time.

I haven’t heard of Yoku’s Island Express until a very enthusiastic Jeff Gerstmann said it was more fun than any other game he played during E3 2018’s Judge’s week. Then I took a look at the trailer and was sold. Pinball platforming sounds like a lot of fun and I am a fan of the game’s visual style so it seems like a no brainer to pick this up on one of the four platforms it’s available on. The question is: when will I actually do it? I’m currently deep into Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and I’m about to start Horizon: Zero Dawn. I eventually want to play Rise of the Tomb Raider as well so I’m mulling a purchase of that as well. Too many games…

I’m sure there’s an alternate timeline where the name “Motorstorm” would send millions of people into a frenzy. Motorstorm — or any driving game from Evolution Studios — never resonated with me. I never felt connected with their racers. They tend to look amazing but something about how their cars handled never appealed to me. During the PlayStation 3 era, I was firmly in the Wipeout HD camp. I tried out Motorstorm and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift demos but they just didn’t grab me the same way Wipeout did. And now remnants of that team are back with Onrush and I’m apathetic towards it. It does look pretty though.

The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection looks to be quite the deal if you pre-ordered it for the PlayStation 4, PC or Xbox One. I think they should have included Ultra Street Fighter IV in the package but alas what can you do? The only reason I didn’t pre-order it is because of the unknown port quality. I didn’t want to spend $49.99 on non-refundable PSN Store purchase. Oh well, I’m sure this will go sale along with Ultra Street Fighter IV one day and I’ll get my Hadouken fix for less than a large pizza one day.
