My only experience with Star Fox consists of me being wowed at Star Fox 64 kiosk at Walmart. That’s it. I never played the Super Nintendo game or the subsequent offshoots on the GameCube or Nintendo DS. I didn’t have much reverence for the series but once of my favorite developers, Platinum Games, was tasked to bring a new Star Fox to the Wii U, I took notice. I had it pre-ordered but I canceled it late last year after watching some very dull footage and I doubt I’ll regret it.

I have nearly no excitement for Dark Souls III right now. I need a bit of a breather between my Souls games and since I just played Bloodborne, I’m more than willing to wait for the inevitable $30 price tag. I’m also happy to see Dark Souls draw to a close because I want to see what From Software will come up with next. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Bloodborne 2 but I was thinking about what their next multi-platform title could be.

I’m a big fan of Remedy’s work. I loved their Max Payne and Alan Wake games despite their flaws. There’s a charm to them that entices me to gloss over those flaws. Remedy have yet to disappoint me which was why I was willing to take the plunge with Quantum Break. It involves time, bullets and has live action cutscenes — the key ingredients of a Remedy title. How can it go wrong?

The countdown of Resident Evil remasters begins next week with Resident Evil 6 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with RE5 and RE4 coming this Summer and Fall respectively. I never played RE6. I tried the demo and thought it was okay but wasn’t compelled to pursue it further. Now, through the magic of remastering, I have another opportunity to see how much of a train wreck the latest mainline entry is. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I don’t have the desire to play RE6 or any other Resident Evil title at the moment.

I wasn’t impressed by the Wii U release of Hyrule Warriors but the people who live in the middle of the Zelda-Dynasty Warriors venn diagram seem to enjoy it. I don’t know anyone if anyone was clamoring for a 3DS port but it bring Linkle into the limelight so I guess that was worth it. I would say I expected more creativity from Nintendo in the naming department but this is the company that brought us Toadette

Hitman is back. He may be arriving in pieces but he’s certainly back based on the GiantBomb Quick Looks I’ve watched. The last proper Hitman title I played was Blood Money but the last couple of Hitman related titles were the excellent Hitman GO and Hitman: Sniper on iOS. The portioned out challenges and different objectives on a single map reminds me of Hitman: Sniper and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. I have no problems with this approach but I can see it being a point of contention for others who just want to move from level to level.

The first Division beta was a pleasant surprise It gave me confidence in the upcoming Ubisoft RPG shooter but at the same time, I cannot help but fear that it’ll be a repeat of original Destiny. Ubisoft Reflections are saying the right things and showing the right things but I still can’t shake the feeling that I’ve been down this path before. I hope I’m wrong but I’m not going to be surprised if it doesn’t pan out either.

After trying the Superhot prototype, I knew this had potential. A stylish and unique blend of action and puzzle solving that we’ve never seen before in a first person shooter made it a must play. That prototype was a couple of years ago and now the final game is out. I don’t have time for it right now but as soon as it goes on sale, I’ll be there. In the meantime, I’ll just keep muttering “SUPERHOT” over and over again.

Fire Emblem: Awakening was my first Fire Emblem title and it left a good impression on me. Then Nintendo tested my commitment to the series by announcing a trio of Fire Emblem games including Birthright, Conquest and Revelations. I immediately recoiled at the thought of three titles in quick succession but I came around to the idea after the Amazon.ca E3 promo lessened the financial blow. I have no idea which version to play first so I’m going to leave it up to Amazon.ca and according to my shipping notice, it’s going to be Birthright.

Street Fighter V is finally upon us and it’s weird. It’s weird to see a Street Fighter follow-up so soon. I’m still expecting the long hiatus between III and IV. I’m happy to see the inclusion of PlayStation 3 fight stick compatibility because I wasn’t going to invest in another stick. I already bought and feel more comfortable with the Hori Fighting Commander 4 but it’s always to have the option to “upgrade”.
