The first God of War game was quite the eye opening experience for me. It also served as a gateway into Greek mythology and all the disturbing twists that comes with that. I continued to enjoy the series through to God of War 3. God of War: Ascension was grossly unnecessary and proved the formula and mythology had nowhere else to go. I am hoping this new God of War game serves as the same gateway into a new mythology and by the sounds of it: it may be the beginning of a new life for the franchise.
